I have been having a look at who makes speeches etc. and my first question is -
what order are these speeches made in - Father of the Bride, Best Man, Groom and Maid of Honor? As everywhere I look tells me something different - and also is this too many?
Secondly - My MoH has just announced that she WON'T be making a speech, would it be ok for my gorgeous (then will be 9 years old) neice to say something?
Finally - Hen Nights - without strippers, and just having a big night out, is it ok for my 2 best male mates to come? They really want to, its sweet!
Thank you in advance!
it's totally up to you who makes a toast, and when. I've been to over 20 weddings and there's no rhyme or reason as to who speaks in what order, but the toasts are always given before dinner is served. usually the parents don't speak, just the MOH and best man. but yes it would be very cute if your neice wants to say something. also yes your male friends can come to your bachelorette, it's your bachelorette and you can invite the pope if you darn well please.

I don't think there is a rule as to who makes their speech first or in any particular order. I've always heard that the Best Man is the only one who is expected to make a speech, and if the Maid of Honor wants to she can. I have never seen parents make speeches at weddings. But my advice is that it is your day and who cares what everyone else does at their weddings? You do what you want- even if it includes having a nine year old say something.
As far as your Hen Night/Bachelorette party- again, you can do what you want! It is your night out and as long as your husband to be is okay with your male friends tagging along, then why not?

It's usually Father of the Bride, Best Man, Maid of Honor, other family members, and then the bride and groom at the end to just round it all off =)
And, no I don't really think that a NINE year old would know what to say, and if she does say something deep, guests won't really take it in as if a real 20-something year old did.
And, for hen night, I wouldn't go w/ the guys because it's supposed to be your girlfriends' day to have fun!
